Flamboyant and gorgeous globe-shaped flowers with diameter of around 2 inch. For best results, grow dahlias in a sunny spot in fertile, well-drained soil. Deadhead regularly and feed with a potash-rich fertilizer to prolong flowering.
Sow in a propagator on a windowsill or in a greenhouse at approx. 60-68°F 4 weeks before last frost. Gently push the seeds into a good quality, moist compost. Cover the seeds with ¼ inch sieved compost and keep moist. Germination will occur in 5-20 days. Gently transplant seedlings into trays or singly into 3-inch pot, firm and water well. Harden off plants gradually before transplanting outside. Set them outdoor during the day and bring in at night. Once danger of frost has passed, plant them outside in a sunny place 14 inch apart. Protect from strong winds.
Sow directly outdoor 2 seeds per feet, ¼ inch deep after last frost when soil is 65-70°F. Cover lightly but firmly. Keep surface moist until emergence. Thin to 9-12 inch after first true leaves appear.
